Flying Above The Storm

Did you know that an eagle knows when a storm is approaching long
before it breaks?
The eagle will fly to some high spot and wait for the winds to
come.
When the storm hits, it sets its wings so that the wind will pick
it up and lift it high above the storm.
While the storm rages below, the eagle is soaring high above it,
gliding with ease.
The eagle does not escape the storm, it just simply uses the
storm to lift it higher.
It rises on the winds that bring the storm into its world.
When the storms of life come upon us -- and all of us will
experience them -- we can rise above them by setting our minds
and faith toward God!!!
The storms do not have to overcome us.
We can allow God to lift us above them. God enables us to ride
the winds of the storm that brings sickness, pain, tragedy,
failure and disappointments in our lives, and make something good
come from it.
We can soar above the storm.
Remember, it is not the burdens of life which weigh us down, but
it is how we handle them that counts.

Are You Out Of Control?

Does your life feel like's it out of control sometimes?

Did you ever say to yourself, "Why does this always happen to me?"

The decisions we make every minute of the day sometimes come back to us later and we're not always happy with the results.

But an important secret to success s to accept responsibility for every decision we make, not just the good ones.

When you take responsibility for your own actions, positive things start happening in your life.

I don't know what the reason is for that, but as soon as you accept the responsibility for where you are and what you are and what you've done suddenly you are in control of your life.

You realize that all the blame is on you. You are where you are in life because of CHOICES you've made... no one else.

No one else is to blame for your situation. Only you are to blame.

Once you realize that and accept that, you're in control. And once you're in control you can change your situation - if you want.

Does your life feel "out of control" sometimes (all the time?). This is the reason why.

I want you to get this planted firmly in your mind:

"I am responsible for my own actions. I am responsible for the situation I'm in right now. No one else is to blame for it. It's my mess and I'm going to do something to clean it up starting today."

The question you need to ask yourself continually is:

"What am I going to do to change my life right now, for the better?"

Now if you're one of those individuals who has always accepted responsibility for your own actions, then bless you.

You are to be congratulated- you are also rare.

I guarantee you though that re-affirming "you are responsible for you own actions" will be good to remember once in a while.

Start taking control of your life instead of being lead by your fears, insecurities, phobias, hate or other people.

It starts by accepting responsibility for yourself and your actions.

Old West Justice

A man in the Old West was being tried for stealing a horse.

You need to remember that stealing a horse in the Old West was a

very grave and serious offense. A person could be hanged if found

guilty of such a deed.

It so happened that the man whose horse had been stolen had

always made it a point to get the best of any person with whom he

had any dealings. He had never tried to do anything good for

anyone other than himself. Consequently, the man whose horse had

been stolen didn't have a single friend in the entire town. The

case was tried and presented to the jury.

The evidence against the accused man was pretty strong. After

about thirty minutes of deliberation, the jury returned to the

court chambers.

"Gentlemen of the jury, have you reached a verdict?" the judge

asked.

The chairman of the jury stood up. "Yes we have, your honor," he

replied.

"What is your verdict?" inquired the judge.

There were a few moments of silence and then the chairman spoke.

"We find the defendant not guilty if he will return the horse."

After the judge had silenced the laughter in the courtroom, he

admonished the jury. "I cannot accept that verdict. You will have

to retire until you reach another verdict," said the judge. The

jury went back into their room to deliberate toward another

verdict. No member of the jury had any particular liking for the

man whose horse had been stolen. At one time or another he had

gotten the best of each of them. About an hour passed before the

jury could reach another verdict. They re-entered the courtroom.

They took their place in the jury box and the courtroom grew

silent.

"Gentlemen of the jury," began the judge, "have you reached a

verdict?" The chairman of the jury stood up.

"Yes we have, your honor," he replied. "What is your verdict?"

asked the judge.

The courtroom was totally silent. You could have heard a pin

drop. Everyone eagerly awaited the verdict. The chairman read the

decision reached by the twelve good men, tried and true.

"We find the defendant NOT guilty, and he can KEEP the horse!"

The courtroom burst into laughter! Moral of the story: If you

spend your life trying to take advantage of others, never caring

about them in any way except what you can get from them or what

they can do for you, you will end up a loser, like the man who

lost his horse.

If you desire a friend, then be a friend. If you desire for other

people to help you, then help other people. If you desire justice

at the hands of others, then practice justice toward them.

Regardless of what you may think, the old Biblical admonition is

true. We do reap what we sow.

Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression

Non-surgical spinal decompression
In nonsurgical spinal decompression, a patient is strapped securely to a table.
Straps.
Mechanical traction slowly and temporarily alleviates spinal pressure.
Non-surgical spinal decompression is achieved through the use of a mechanical traction device applied through an on-board computer that controls the force and angle of disc distraction, which reduces the body’s natural propensity to resist external force and/or generate muscle spasm. This enhanced control allows non-surgical spinal decompression tables to apply a traction force to the discs of the spinal column reducing intradiscal pressure, unlike previous non-computer controlled traction tables.
Inversion therapy, which involves hanging upside down, is a form of mechanical traction used for spinal decompression.[4]
The practice is promoted as safe and effective without the normal risks associated with invasive procedures such as injections, anesthesia or surgery. Spinal decompression works through a series of 15 one minute alternating decompression (using a logarithmic decompression curve) and relaxation cycles with a total treatment time of 30 minutes. During the decompression [5] phase the pressure in the disc is reduced and a vacuum type of effect is produced on the nucleus pulposis. At the same time nutrition is diffused into the disc allowing the annulus fibrosis to heal. Very rarely is the nerve root compressed from the herniated disc and usually the back and leg pain associated with these conditions is a result of irritation to the nerve root sleeve by the inflammatory chemicals that are released as a result of inflammation in the disc.[6]
For the low back, the patient lies comfortably on his/her back or stomach on the decompression table, with a set of nicely padded straps snug around the waist and another set around the lower chest. For the neck, the patient lies comfortably on his/her back with a pair of soft rubber pads behind the neck. Many patients enjoy the treatment, as it is usually quite comfortable and well tolerated.[7]
The treatment has several varying versions, including articulating spinal decompression or range-of-motion (ROM) decompression, which enables the doctor or therapist to adjust the patient's spinal posture during the decompression. Varying the spine's posture enables the decompressive pulling forces to reach into spinal areas and tissues that basic linear decompression misses. The Antalgic-Trak is a brand name for an articulating decompression system.[8]

Causes of Fibromyalgia?

Q: Dr. Moulas, what is the true cause of fibromyalgia?

A: Fibromyalgia is a disease that has multiple causes. In the research studies that have been completed on fibromyalgia patients, several major theories have come to light.

The first is that there has been an injury to the neck or upper spine, which triggers fibromyalgia by affecting the central nervous system. Another is that psychological stress is the cause. It’s even possible that disturbed sleep patterns for long periods of time can trigger the disorder. If your true cause is any of these, we can start making a difference in small increments right now, today!

Physicians don’t have a method of determining what is YOUR true cause of fibromyalgia, so we’re waiting for technology to come up with some valid tests. In the meantime, we already have solutions for injury to the neck or upper spine: chiropractic and healing the body from within. We already have solutions for reducing psychological stress. And we already have solutions for disturbed sleep patterns. Some of these solutions are in this report. All you have to do is embrace them! Get going on using them and your body will get going with the healing!

Protein and Headaches

Low blood sugar from not enough protein in the meal

or in the diet causes headaches.

Many people believe that it’s not a good idea to eat red meat, so they eliminate it from their diet. Grass-fed red meat is an excellent source of nutrients, including omega-3 fats that prevent headaches! The problem is that when many people eat less meat, they don’t substitute other protein foods for the red meat. Other protein foods include fish, chicken, turkey, wild meats, eggs, cheese and dairy products.

If you don’t have enough protein in a meal, your body cannot repair itself. Without enough protein in a meal, the composition of that meal is primarily carbohydrates and fat. And we already know what too many carbohydrates in a meal can do: cause a headache!

Make sure you eat some form of protein at every meal. Even adding one or two eggs for breakfast can change your life and your headaches! See how good your day goes when you have enough protein! Eat at least three ounces (about the size of a computer mouse) at each meal and you’ll have the minimum amount you need each day.

Low Blood Sugar

Carbohydrate foods are foods such as breads, pasta, cakes, cookies, candy, muffins, rice, beans, whole grains, tacos and tortillas. Starchy vegetables such as peas, corn, potatoes, acorn squash, and other winter squashes also contain high levels of carbohydrates. Milk products are another good source.

It’s okay to have carbohydrate foods in your diet, but limit them to a maximum of three or four servings per meal. Some people must limit them to one or two to become headache-free. Watching your diet for the number of carbohydrates eaten in any one meal can be a big revelation into why you have headaches. Too many carbohydrates cause headaches by raising insulin levels that lower blood sugar too fast and also increase inflammation in the body.

Here’s an example of too many carbohydrates in a meal:

Oatmeal with raisins, orange juice, a muffin, and an apple.

You may think that the oatmeal meal is a healthy meal but it contains too many carbohydrates. The headache-free breakfast would be oatmeal with milk and an apple. You could even add an egg to this new meal.

Chemicals and Headaches

Very clever researchers discovered that certain chemicals, especially MSG added to Chinese food is a strong headache trigger in many people.

Foods that contain MSG might not necessarily list “MSG” or “monosodium glutamate” on the label. Instead, you’ll see: hydrolyzed vegetable protein, natural flavorings, sodium caseinate, yeast extract, hydrolyzed yeast, autolyzed yeast, hydolized oat flour, calcium caseinate, hydrolyzed plant protein, hydrolyzed protein. Protein isolates of any type may contain MSG, even soy protein. If you eat processed foods, it will be rare for you to see a label without one of these! Every fast food chain uses it in their food ingredients!

You may lose to gain. What I mean by this is that you may lose your present life in the meal department to gain a headache-free life. What you gain is learning how to cook and prepare foods from scratch. You gain the freedom to do things you couldn’t do before and you can do them without restriction. You gain the affection lost by family members who didn’t understand your headaches.

In a few months, you will have adapted so much to your new diet, that your family and friends will want to come over to see what you’re cooking that tastes so good! Natural foods cooking is different than what it was like a decade ago. It’s easier to find cookbooks, share recipes, and find near ready-made alternatives at the health food stores and whole food superstores.

Nutrasweet and aspartame are unnatural sugars synthesized in the laboratory. There have been thousands of reports about headaches and even brain tumors linked to aspartame

Bad Sleep Habits And Headaches

Sleeping on your stomach or with your pillow bunched up is a sure way to a headache. What happens is that your neck becomes twisted for long periods of time as you sleep, putting pressure on the nerves, blood vessels and vertebrae in your cervical (upper) spine. That pressure sends messages to the brain that there’s something that needs to be addressed, and a pain signal is sent to your head. Presto! You have a headache and your neck hurts as well.

The solution is sleeping on your back with a pillow that supports your neck fully. You may also sleep on your side, but check with us at the office about the proper sleeping position that won’t create headaches. If you bring in your pillow to our office, I’ll check it to see if it’s part of the reason you have headaches. For example, a pillow that is too thin or too fluffy will contribute to headaches because it doesn’t support the cervical curve in your neck. The cervical curve is a natural S-shaped curve in your neck. If the pillow is too flat, that pillow flattens your cervical curve. If the pillow is too fluffy, it exaggerates your cervical curve.

In the past 20 years, chiropractic physicians have used a complete range of cervical pillows to fit the necks of those who are young and old.

Headache Advice

When you have a headache, nothing seems right. The sooner you feel better, the sooner you can get back to life as usual.

Headaches can result from many causes, some serious and some not as serious. As your chiropractic physician, I’ve already done everything to insure that your headache is not the result of serious disease. I have set up a treatment plan for you that I believe will help us address the root of your headaches once and for all. My goal for you is for you to be headache-free within six months. Many of my patients begin their headache-free life a lot sooner than that and they do it with my home care recommendations.

What chiropractic physicians, medical doctors, nutritionists and herbalists have discovered in the last ten years is that the reason why many people have headaches is that there are some personal habits and diet habits that contribute greatly to causing headaches. Have you ever noticed that sometimes after a very heated argument, you get a headache? One trigger for headaches is stress.

Have you ever noticed that sometimes after eating a nice dinner with a glass of wine, you get a headache? You may not have felt any stress during that dinner and everything was going very well when a headache appeared out of nowhere that sent you to bed early. Your night was ruined. This type of headache can be caused by diet, and even though every headache sufferer does not get diet-induced headaches, the great majority do. That’s why part of your home care recommendations will be to monitor and alter your diet.

There are many different Headache Diets you can find online and all of them are different from each other. Some eliminate monosodium glutamate (MSG), others eliminate aspartame, and others eliminate tyramine. These diets have ignored some basic facts. What I’ve found is that there are certain dietary principles to follow that will address most of these – the MSG, aspartame, and tyramine simultaneously. Start here, and after you get these mastered, we can go further with individual diets later.

As a headache sufferer, what’s important for you is to make a commitment to start noticing the little things in your life that are contributing to your headaches. Today starts your personal journey into a headache-free life.

As your chiropractic physician, I will alert you to all types of possible headache triggers that you can control in this home care manual. I’ll continue your chiropractic treatment and with both of us working together, your headache-free life is right around the corner! Have hope and take action and we will both see results!

Your Posture

Your spine is the central support structure of your body. Your spine carries the neurological lifeline from your brain to all the other parts of your body. Your health really depends on the flow of energy through an unrestricted nervous system. When your spine suffers, your overall health can suffer too. When you respect your spine by taking good care of it, your spine will serve you well by offering its strength and flexibility for a long time to come.

Here are my two top recommendations for taking care of your spine:

  1. Be ergonomically correct when you sit at a desk, stand, bend or reach. “Ergonomically correct” is a fancy term for body posture that doesn’t cause stress to your body.

For example, which three of these postures do you think would be ergonomically correct:

    1. Sitting with your legs crossed at the knees.
    2. Sitting with your legs crossed at the ankles.
    3. Bending straight over to pick up a box with knees locked for support.
    4. Bending over to pick up a box with knees bent.
    5. Standing in a crowd with your weight centered on one leg for a long time.
    6. Standing in a crowd with your weight centered over both feet with your shoulder, back and head centered over your spine.

The answer is b. d and f.

Here’s how I remember how to stand correctly while lifting something heavy or

just standing for long periods of time: I think to myself, “Brace yourself!” What

I mean by this is that if I’m reaching down into the crib to pick up a baby, I must

get ready for the act of lifting by bracing myself. I brace myself by bending at the

knees and keeping the weight as close to my body as I can. The farther the baby is

from my body, the more I’m at risk of injury.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, and the Brain

Your Body is Miraculous!

You may already know that researchers and doctors have discovered that every part of your body can be healed. In 2008, medical doctors announced that even the brain was capable of regenerating itself! A few years ago, they announced that the liver could regenerate itself. In alternative healing, we have known this for decades. Chiropractors have seen seemingly impossible cases of healing occur when the nervous system to the body part that is ailing is restored. And the beauty of the body healing itself is that it happens again and again.

So if your brain can heal itself and your liver can heal itself, why couldn’t the tissues in your hand and wrist? There’s no reason at all! Keep your Nervous System in a high state of health, and you will have unlimited potential.

Good luck,

Dr. Bob Moulas

Attention Deficit Update

More on Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Good News about Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

When you have carpal tunnel syndrome, it may seem that life has come to a standstill. You may found it difficult to wash your hair in the shower, button your buttons and zip up your parka, type on the computer keyboard, do simple household chores, sleep and even drive a car without pain. With constant pain, it’s easy to think about giving up!

The good news is that a chiropractor can definitely make a difference in your life. The road to recovery will take awhile, but with treatments and proper home care, you will soon discover that you can gain much control over the pain that accompanies this musculoskeletal disorder.

As your chiropractor, I’ve already done everything to insure that your carpal tunnel syndrome is not the result of serious disease. I have set up a treatment plan for you that I am confident will help us address the causes of this disorder once and for all. My goal is for you to be free of carpal tunnel syndrome within six months. Many of my patients begin their carpal tunnel syndrome-free life a lot earlier than that and they do it because they continue treatment and follow my home care recommendations.

Health Bulletin On Scoliosis

Scoliosis is an aggravating condition that can change your life.
There's stiffness, pain and often times a deformed posture.
Many scoliosis patients have been told they only have three choices -- to do nothing, bracing, or surgery.
Scoliosis surgery involves implanting metal rods and screws to straighten the spine.
However, numerous studies have shown that multiple complications, including rusting and corrosion, bending, or breaking completely, prove this method dangerous.
Many sufferers who had the rods implanted, end uplater undergoing surgery to have them removed.
In addition, thousands of post-surgery scoliosis patients are legally declared permanently disabled every year. Follow up x-rays on other cases have shown that scoliosis can return years after operation procedures have been performed.

The List

One day a teacher asked her students to list the names of the

other students in the room on two sheets of paper, leaving a

space between each name.

Then she told them to think of the nicest thing they could say

about each of their classmates and write it down. It took the

remainder of the class period to finish their assignment, and as

the students left the room, each one handed in the papers.

That Saturday, the teacher wrote down the name of each student on

a separate sheet of paper, and listed what everyone else had said

about that individual.

On Monday she gave each student his or her list. Before long, the

entire class was smiling. "Really?" she heard whispered. "I never

knew that I meant anything to anyone!" and, "I didn't know others

liked me so much," were most of the comments.

No one ever mentioned those papers in class again. She never knew

if they discussed them after class or with their parents, but it

didn't matter. The exercise had accomplished its purpose. The

students were happy with themselves and one another. That group

of students moved on.

Several years later, one of the students was killed in Vietnam

and his teacher attended the funeral of that special student. She

had never seen a serviceman in a military coffin before. He

looked so handsome, so mature.

The church was packed with his friends. One by one those who

loved him took a last walk by the coffin. The teacher was the

last one. As she stood there, one of the soldiers who acted as

pallbearer came up to her. "Were you Mark's maths teacher?" he

asked. She nodded: "Yes." Then he said: "Mark talked about you a

lot."

After the funeral, most of Mark's former classmates went together

to a luncheon. Mark's mother and father were there, obviously

waiting to speak with his teacher.

"We want to show you something," his father said, taking a wallet

out of his pocket. "They found this on Mark when he was killed.

We thought you might recognise it."

Opening the wallet, he carefully removed two worn pieces of

notebook paper that had obviously been taped, folded and refolded

many times. The teacher knew without looking that the papers were

the ones on which she had listed all the good things each of

Mark's classmates had said about him.

"Thank you so much for doing that," Mark's mother said. "As you

can see, Mark treasured it."

All of Mark's former classmates started to gather around. Charlie

smiled rather sheepishly and said, "I still have my list. It's in

the top drawer of my desk at home."

Chuck's wife said, "Chuck asked me to put his in our wedding

album."

"I have mine too," Marilyn said. "It's in my diary." Then Vicki,

another classmate, reached into her pocketbook, took out her

wallet and showed her worn and frazzled list to the group. "I

carry this with me at all times," Vicki said and without batting

an eyelash, she continued: "I think we all saved our lists."

That's when the teacher finally sat down and cried. She cried for

Mark and for all his friends who would never see him again.

The density of people in society is so thick that we forget that

life will end one day. And we don't know when that one day will

be. So treat each day like it will be THAT day.

Children and Animals

I've  just realized that while children are dogs -- loyal and

affectionate -- teenagers are cats. It's so easy to be a dog

owner. You feed it, train it, boss it around. It puts its head on

your knee and gazes at you as if you were a Rembrandt painting.

It bounds indoors with enthusiasm when you call it.

Then around age 13, your adoring little puppy turns into a big

old cat. When you tell it to come inside, it looks amazed, as if

wondering who died and made you emperor. Instead of dogging your

doorsteps, it disappears. You won't see it again until it gets

hungry -- then it pauses on its sprint through the kitchen long

enough to turn its nose up at whatever you're serving. When you

reach out to ruffle its head, in that old affectionate gesture,

it twists away from you, then gives you a blank stare, as if

trying to remember where it has seen you before.

You, not realizing that the dog is now a cat, think something

must be desperately wrong with it. It seems so antisocial, so

distant, sort of depressed. It won't go on family outings.

Since you're the one who raised it, taught it to fetch and stay

and sit on command, you assume that you did something wrong.

Flooded with guilt and fear, you redouble your efforts to make

your pet behave.

Only now you're dealing with a cat, so everything that worked

before now produces the opposite of the desired result. Call it,

and it runs away. Tell it to sit, and it jumps on the counter.

The more you go toward it, wringing your hands, the more it moves

away.

Instead of continuing to act like a dog owner, you can learn to

behave like a cat owner. Put a dish of food near the door, and

let it come to you. But remember that a cat needs your help and

your affection too. Sit still, and it will come, seeking that

warm, comforting lap it has not entirely forgotten. Be there to

open the door for it.

One day your grown-up child will walk into the kitchen, give you

a big kiss and say, "You've been on your feet all day. Let me get

those dishes for you."

Then you'll realize your cat is again, a dog.

Mental Golf

A prerequisite to improving your golf game will be goal setting.  This is where you tell your brain which direction it is going. You must set goals that will push your mind and body beyond its normal limits. You can accomplish whatever you really desire. Do not listen to those little voices of doubt in the back of your mind.
Decide where you want your golf game to improve. This is the time to get passionate! Let yourself dream of already accomplishing your goal.
Most people fail to goal set because they are afraid of failure. They want to avoid pain. Some are afraid of success. Learn to associate pleasure with goal setting, and link massive pain to not reaching your goal. Don’t let life pass you by. Nobody ever won on a sure bet. When you have a goal that excites you, every cell in your body becomes turbo charged! You will become obsessed, and nothing will be able to steer you from achieving your goal.
Make a picture of your goal in your mind. See every detail unfolding as if it were a motion picture. What will you see? What will you hear? What will you feel? What will you smell? Who will be present? It is imperative that your goals are stated in a positive format. An example of this would be: I want to win the company golf tournament, and set a new course record.
As opposed to: I don’t want to finish second place an out of the money.
Try to insure that all your goal outcomes are in your control. Do not become to dependent on others to reach your goal. Encouragement is good, but never let anyone interfere with unleashing all your untapped energy toward your goal.
Next, set a time and place where your goal will be accomplished. Don not let anything side track you from sticking to this time frame.
If possible, try to visualize any barriers that may stand in the way of you reaching your goal. Be prepared for the worst even though it probably won’t happen. Be very honest with yourself. If you run into a barrier, plow through it. Remember – link massive pain to not working through a barrier.
Decide where you are at the present time. What will be needed in the way of mentors, equipment, etc? Start to chart a road map that will lead you to success. Chart short, medium, and long-term goals to keep you on track. Know what needs to be done on a daily basis. Don’t waste time, because it is a precious commodity. Always stay focused!
Create a 15 Second Goal Mission Statement to help you stay focused on your goal. Include as much detail as possible about achieving your goal. Commit this statement to memory, and repeat it upon wakening and before retiring to sleep.
Try to feel as if you were actually achieving your goal. An example of a Goal Mission Statement would be: I’m at Augusta National on the 18th hole. I am putting for a birdie that will insure me a victory at the Masters Tournament. I feel very confident and energized. After repeating your Goal Mission Statement, you should feel flooded with energy, and excitement. If you don’t maybe you have picked the wrong goal. Take your time with goal setting, because it will allow you to build a powerful mental foundation for life.
Auto-Diagramming
Golfers are capable of exhibiting multiple emotions. These emotions can be positive, or they may be negative in nature. Learning to communicate such feelings with your inner, (subconscious) mind will be quite helpful in reaching your goals.
Diagramming will uncover many facets of your life. It can show you that your future goals can be effected by past coaches, books, sports, people, etc.
This type of goal setting is not only productive, but is fun to perform. One thing will lead you to another. Some things will not appear to make sense immediately. Relax, and move your mind to another area of the diagram. Do not become critical of yourself. You can do no wrong here. Let the inner you take over.
Now go to a quite place where you will not be disturbed for the next 20 to 30 minutes. You will need a pencil, and a piece of paper. It’s time to construct your Auto-Diagramming Blueprint.
Diagramming Your Goal
1.Bring to mind a goal you would like to accomplish in the next 6 weeks. Make sure it is goal that really excites you.
2.Write your goal in the center of the paper and put a circle around it.
