Tension Headaches

Manual therapy
People with tension-type headache often use chiropractic, manual therapy, spinal manipulation, soft tissue therapy, and myofascial trigger point treatment. A 2006 systematic review found no rigorous evidence supporting manual therapies for tension headache.[15] A 2005 structured review found that the evidence was weak for effectiveness of chiropractic manipulation for tension headache, and that it was probably more effective for tension headache than for migraine.[16] A 2004 Cochrane review found that spinal manipulation may be effective for migraine and tension headache, and that spinal manipulation and neck exercises may be effective for cervicogenic headache.[17] Two other systematic reviews published between 2000 and May 2005 did not find conclusive evidence in favor of spinal manipulation.[18]

 Prognosis

Tension headaches that do not occur as a symptom of another condition may be painful, but are not harmful. It is usually possible to receive relief through treatment. Tension headaches that occur as a symptom of another condition are usually relieved when the underlying condition is treated. Frequent use of pain medications in patients with tension-type headache may lead to the development of medication overuse headache or rebound headache.

Spinal Decompression May be The Answer To Your Prayers

Ok, you have made up your mind! You are sick of always being in pain! It’s your neck, arm, low back, and sometimes your legs that are in pain.

You are tired of taking pills, getting pain injections, and having the constant threat of back surgery! You are probably thinking that life should not be this way? This is the time in life I call a reality check. If you keep doing the same thing, you will get the same results!

I am no longer an Ordained Minister, but I can tell you the verdict is in. In 24 years of being a Chiropractic Physician, I have not seen the results in dealing with chronic pain that I am getting with Spinal Decompression!! It is F.D.A. approved, non-surgical, and the “Big” guys at the Mayo Clinic love it!!

How does Spinal Decompression work?

Spinal Decompression provides relief to severe back and neck pain sufferers by gently reducing the pressure within spinal discs. The bones of the spine are slowly and methodically separated using the state-of-the-art DYNA PRO Spinal Decompression Unit. As the vertebrae are separated pressure is slowly reduced within the disc (intradiscal pressure) until a vacuum is formed. This vacuum “sucks” the gelatinous center of the disc back inside thereby reducing the disc bulge or disc herniation. Significant disc bulge reduction pressure off the spinal nerves and drastically reduces pain and disability. This “sucking” vacuum also pulls much-needed oxygen, nutrients and fluid into injured and degenerated discs allowing the healing to begin.

Before You Get Back Surgery, Consider Spinal Decompression

For some, back surgery may be a viable solution for their condition. Many Doctors now believe that non-invasive alternatives to surgery should be considered.

Some back surgeries have a failure rate of 20-30%. Once a surgery is performed you can’t take it back!

If you still have pain after surgery, Spinal Decompression may offer dramatic relief. Spinal Decompression is non-surgical, and most patients see results in only 3-6 weeks. The Mayo Clinic has seen positive results in about 90% of cases. Contact your Chiropractor or Medical Doctor to see if Spinal Decompression is the right choice for you.

A Patient’s Testimonial About Spinal Decompression!

I suffered low back pain that shot down both legs. It hurt to sit, and I had to give up my golf game.

After one Spinal Decompression session the bruised feeling in my low back decreased dramatically. Now four treatments later, I am able to twist my low back and hips. I am back playing golf about once a week! My low back pain rarely reoccurs, and my golf swing is getting faster. Wish I would have tried Spinal Decompression a year ago!

Having a Child Ups Your Risk of Metabolic Syndrome

Elevated triglycerides (a type of blood fat) and low HDL (“good”) cholesterol are two of the components that define metabolic syndrome, a cluster of related problems that increase the risk of heart disease. Abdominal obesity and high blood pressure are other factors.

A new study has found that, for women, giving birth is associated with an increased risk of metabolic syndrome, by 33% for one child and 62% for more than one, compared with women who haven’t had children. Women with gestational diabetes are at even greater risk.

In part, the link between pregnancy and metabolic syndrome may be due to weight gain and lack of physical activity. Weight loss and exercise are crucial for the prevention and treatment of metabolic syndrome.

Goals of Spinal Decompression

The main goal in spinal decompression is to decrease intradiscal pressure while targeting an exact disc. This reduction has a powerful influence on the healing process, by increasing blood and fibroblast supplies. Pain relief is accomplished by decreasing pressure on the soft tissue. When intradiscal pressures are reduced into the negative range of about 175mm/hg, true spinal decompression occurs in the disc and nerve roots. This effect causes retraction of herniations, and increases the influx of protein, oxygen and other co-factors. This in turn facilitates disc repair, and reduces leakage from the nucleus. The end result is a healthier, happier spinal disc.

Spinal Decompression

Spinal Decompression is relatively new in healthcare, the research has yet to catch up. However, preliminary studies, although limited, are very favorable in outcomes targeted in reduction of pain and an increase in activities of daily living. A six-week course of twenty decompression treatments significantly reduced the severity of chronic low back pain in 89% of treated patients from 6.4 to a 3.1 on the visual analog scale, where 0 is no pain and 10 is severe pain, after two weeks, and to 0.8 after completion of treatment. Oswestry Disability scores improved from 23.7 to only 5.5 at the end of therapy. No significant adverse events or safety issues resulted from these treatments.

Observationally, my outcomes with decompression over the last few years have mirrored the above preliminary research results. The most important factor in achieving a favorable outcome is to have an accurate diagnosis, primarily through MRI results and, again, I urge every doctor utilizing decompression to maintain control over that decision by becoming an expert at reading your own MRI’s. To use a computer metaphor; “Garbage in – garbage out.”

Spinal Decompression – A Safe Treatment For Back Pain

Spinal decompression is a proven and safe way to restore neck and back health. Post surgical patients are also reporting that spinal decompression has been very helpful.

Spinal decompression helps the body repair the damaged discs. Experts believe the nutrients and fluids are pulled into the disc during treatment. This helps the disc repair itself, and the end result is a drastic decrease in pain.

The following is a patient testimony...

Golfers….want to improve your golf game?

Are you a golfer but back pain is keeping you from your game?  Low back and neck pain are main reasons that golfers cannot play or play at their best.

When you’re injured it is hard to play your best game! We have the answer to your problem.

The procedure is Spinal Decompression Therapy (also known as Spinal Decompression or SD).  SD is a non-surgical therapy proven to treat back pain with significant results.

Over a series of relaxing treatment sessions, patients experience powerful pain reduction and healing.  Some patients even notice an improvement in their symptoms after the first few treatments.

Patients enjoy lasting results, a four year study on the lasting effects of Spinal Decompression showed remarkable levels of sustained relief from back pain in patients that had undergone therapy.

71% showed more than 50% reduction in pain immediately after treatment.

52% of respondents reported a pain level of zero.

Average pain levels were reduced from 7.41 to 1.57

Employment status increased by 40% among those previously out of     work due to back pain.

We have treated many patients with conditions ranging from golf injuries, back pain, and neck pain.

My clinic uses Spinal Decompression to help patients who have had little success with other treatments.  This FDA approved Spinal Decompression has been the most important medical advance in the non-surgical, non-invasive treatment of back pain in the last ten years.

For anyone that lives in the Southern California area, I do offer a NO COST exam that determines if Spinal Decompression can help you.  If anyone has any questions please feel free to contact me at this blog.

Spinal Decompression Protocol

A Spinal Decompression treatment protocol consists of about 18-24 treatments over a period of 4-8 weeks. This is a non-surgical procedure, and lasts about 20-30 minutes in duration. Many patients feel pain relief after only a few treatments, where others feel the benefits after completion of their treatment protocol. For more information see my video!

Revolutionary New Cure For Chronic Back Pain

Are your suffering from Chronic Back Pain? After cold and flu chronic back pain is the number one cause of work absence. An estimated 93 million workdays are lost each year due to back pain. Approximately, 5.4 million Americans are disabled annually due to back pain. Spinal surgery is the second leading surgical procedure in America, with the total number in the U.S. approaching 500,000 per year.

Let me introduce you to a safe, proven, non invasive method to treat chronic back pain caused by:

  • Herniated Disc-Neck
  • Herniated Disc-Back
  • Sciatica
  • Pinched Nerve
  • Neck Disc Bulge
  • Degenerative Disc Disease

  • Without the need of:

  • Drugs/Pain Medications
  • Injections
  • Surgery
  • Medical Leave

  • The procedure is Spinal decompression Therapy (also known as Spinal Decompression or SD). Spinal Decompression is a non-surgical therapy proven to treat back pain and sciatica caused by bulging, herniated, and Degenerative discs or facet syndrome. Even post-surgical patients and those suffering from stenosis (a narrowing of the spinal canal) have reported significant pain relief from the SD treatments.

Spinal Decompression should not be confused with traction, which is an entirely different procedure. With traction, weights are added one by one to the traction harness secured around the patient’s pelvis. This process lengthens the spine with the intention of relieving pressure, but the linear force may lead to further injury.

Over a series of relaxing treatment sessions, patients experience powerful pain reduction and healing. Some patients even notice an improvement in their symptoms after the first few treatments.

Spinal Decompression gently lengthens and decompresses the spine, creating negative pressures with the discs. This reversal of pressure creates a vacuum that not only takes pressure off of pinched nerves, but helps to reposition bulging discs and pull extruded disc material back into place.

Patients enjoy lasting results, a four year study on the lasting effects of Spinal Decompression showed remarkable levels of sustained relief from back pain in patients that had undergone therapy. Pain relief not only lasted by improved.

    • 71% showed a 50% or more reduction in pain immediately after treatment.

    • 52% of respondents reported a pain level of zero.

    • Average pain levels were reduced from 7 to 1.5

    • Employment increased by 40% among those out of work due to back pain.

We have treated many patients with conditions ranging from whiplash to scoliosis to herniated discs with stunning success.

If anyone has any questions please feel free to contact me at 714-974-2505.

    Spinal Stenosis and Spinal Decompression

Spinal Stenosis occurs with a narrowing of the spinal canal. This can be caused by disc damage, and excessive bone growth. The end result is pain, weakness and numbness into the buttocks, legs and feet. Patients with spinal stenosis receive relief from spinal decompression by the repositioning and rejuvenating effect on the spinal discs.

How Spinal Decompression Works Part II

Spinal decompression can trick the body into relaxing. Regular pulling of the spine can trigger sensors in the muscles, and cause them to tighten up. Spinal decompression can bypass the muscle tightening response of the body. This is accomplished by gently pulling on the spine and relaxing the back over a period of time. The spine is able to reposition without tension, or putting itself into an emergency tighten down mode.
