Jonathan’s Chiropractic Experience

My problem began quite unexpectedly. I bent down one day but couldn’t stand straight again. At 57, I’m very active. I play a lot of tennis, and my job as a mechanic at McDonnell-Douglas requires me to bend and twist in some awkward positions, especially when I have to squeeze through the small openings in some of the jets I work on.

Five days after the problem began I was still suffering agonizing low back pain. I wasn’t able to do anything.

I took the recommendations of several friends and went to see a doctor of chiropractic who took x-rays. I was told that the problem was in my spine; and the doctors explained the spine’s direct relation to my general health.

When I came to the chiropractor, I couldn’t even reach my knees with my hands. Now I can touch my toes without bending my knees, which I haven’t been able to do for more years than I can remember. I can’t thank my chiropractor enough.

Chiropractors Perform Most Manipulative Procedures

If your spine is out of alignment, there is a 90% chance that it will be corrected by a Chiropractor. The correction procedure is called an adjustment. The adjustment is performed to help realign joints of the body, and this in turn restores normal nerve flow. All parts of the body are controlled through the nervous system.

Doctors of Chiropractic spend many years perfecting the Art and Science of spinal adjustments, and that is why the majority of spinal realignments are performed by chiropractors.

The Chiropractic Adjustment

A spinal adjustment is a specific force applied to correct the misalignment of the spine. The adjustment can be applied by hand or with an instrument. The purpose of the adjustment is to help restore normal nerve flow to the body.

Some patients experience instant relief of symptoms after the first adjustment. Increased energy and sleeping better are common occurrences. For some a certain number of adjustments are needed to help correct their condition.

Chiropractic and Golf!

The key to golf longevity is having a strong back. Back injuries can ruin your golf score, and possibly keep you off the course. To a dedicated golfer, this can be worse then losing big on the stock market!

The spine consists of 24 bones which are separated by a soft tissue made of cartilage. When the spine is healthy, it is capable of handling tremendous stress. When the spinal bones move out of place, they put stress on the spinal nerves. This can cause pain, weakness, numbness, etc.

The golf swing involves flexing and twisting of the spine. Golfers must consider themselves athletes, and train using up to date training programs. One survey showed that 53% of professional golfers play while injured. While 53% of male recreational golfers suffered from back pain. If you play golf along with other sports you’re 40% more likely to develop back pain then those that just play golf.

Golfers use 90% of their maximum muscular activity when driving a golf ball. This is performed about 40 times per game. This level of maximum exertion puts golf on the same level with football, wrestling and martial arts.

Chiropractors are experts of the spine, and nervous system. In my clinic we treat many golfers, for various types of injuries. The most common complaint is low back pain. Low back injuries do not allow golfers to get into the proper position to address the golf ball. This in turn sets up the golfer for failure, and leads to many other injuries.

Golfers are welcome in my clinic to a Free consultation to determine if they may improve their golf game through chiropractic  care. Contact me through this blog.

Health Report U.S. GOVERNMENT REPORT SAYS CHIROPRACTIC IS BEST FOR LOWER BACK PAIN

According to a government study done by the Agency for Health Care Policy and Research, spinal manipulation is the most effective treatment for acute lower back pain.

Lower-back pain is suffered, at one time or another, by up to 80 percent of adult Americans. Next to the common cold, it is the most common reason men and women visit primary care physicians.

For lower back pain this is some of what the report recommends:

1. Spinal manipulation by a chiropractor.

2. Low-stress exercise such as walking, swimming or biking, if the problems are “mild or moderate.”

3. More rigorous “conditioning exercises” for the trunk muscles to start and gradually increase after the first two weeks of pain.
