Health Warning Signals

It is possible to have a cavity in our teeth and not know it. The same holds true for your spine. You may have a subluxation without being aware of it. Here are a few signs that your spine might be out of alignment:

1. One leg is shorter than the other

2. Joints of the body hurt

3. One shoulder is higher than the other

4. A foot is turned in or out

5. Hyperactivity

6. Sinus problems

7. Asthma and Wheezing

8. Frequent colds

9. Colic

10. Scoliosis – lateral bending of the spine

Chlorine and Your Lungs

Earlier this summer I reported on the link between swimming pools and lung problems, and a new study published in the journal Pediatrics has more news: Swimming in chlorinated pools may increase your child’s risk of developing asthma or allergies. Among 847 teenagers ages 13 to 18, researchers found those who swam in an indoor or outdoor pool disinfected with chlorine for more than 1,000 hours were much more likely to develop asthma or allergies than those who swam in pools cleaned with a copper and silver mixture.

Keep in mind, 1,000 hours of swimming is a ton of pool time and this is a preliminary study. So no need to pull your kids out of the pool, just be aware chlorine could be a potential trigger.

Does Your Inhaler Work?

If you believe it does, you are more likely to use it. A new study of 261 people with asthma published in the Annals of Asthma, Allergy& Immunology found that participants who believed their inhaler worked and it was “important” to take, even while symptom-free, were more likely to comply with their treatment regimen than those who didn’t. Participants concerned about side effects were half as likely to take their meds. If you have questions or concerns about your asthma meds make sure to bring it up with your doctor.

RESEARCH SUPPORTS CHIROPRACTIC CARE FOR ASTHMA SUFFERS

There is ample research documenting the intimate connection between the spinal column, nervous system and asthma. As early as 1921 Henry Winsor, M.D. performed autopsies on 70 people that had respiratory diseases. He found spinal abnormalities (subluxations) associated with breathing in all 70 cases.

A major study was conducted comparing spinal adjustments with conventional medications, such as bronchodilators and corticosteroids, and found improved respirator functions and neck mobility after spinal adjustments.

This makes a strong case for asthmatics and those suffering from other chronic lung conditions such as bronchitis and emphysema to ensure that their lungs and bronchi are receiving an uninterrupted nerve supply. Only chiropractic offers a way of freeing people from spinal nerve interference.
